A solo exhibit by internationally renowned abstract artist Ron Ehrlich opens as the premier exhibit at Gallery Z's the new ADDITIONAL SPACE, Studio Z: A Visual Arts and Performance Space, located at Butcher Block Mill 25 Eagle Street, Providence.
Almost seventy 20" x 30" of Ron Ehrlich's oil on paper paintings of horses have been selected for this special-focus exhibit.
After receiving his BFA from Connecticut College in 1976, this world renowned prolific artist spent several years in Japan in a monastery in the province of Bizen while studying that region's famous ceramics, which served to immensely influencing his art. After returning to the US, Ehrlich spent two years continuing his study of art at the Kansas City Art Institute and two years at the Rhode Island School of Design, Providence.
These abstract expressionist paintings of horses are informed by this aesthetic of Japanese Bizen pottery which infuses Ehrlich's work.
In 1999, Ehrlich was chosen for Outward Bound: American Art on the Brink of the 21st Century, a presentation of the work of 100 American artists in major venues including museums across China, Southeast Asia and the Pacific Rim.
Ehrlich's art is regularly shown in solo exhibitions in major galleries throughout the US and has been exhibited in numerous Asian cities.
